About Our Friend, Ed.

Edmond (Ed) Conner was born in Meadowbrook, PA in 1966. He was raised in Northeast Philadelphia by his parents Gail and Edmond, and his stepmother, Elizabeth. Ed was an avid offshore fisherman, running his Albemarle 305 from his home in Forked River. He worked for Augusta Westland/Leonardo Helicopter Corporation for over 30 years. His dream was to retire in the coming years and move to Forked River fulltime. Ed was a true fisherman, friend, and family man. His love for boating and fishing was infectious.

On Saturday, September 14, 2024, Ed passed away of a sudden cardiac arrest while doing what he loved so much. Ed suffered this life threatening event approximately 30 miles offshore while canyon bound. His crew of two and close friends, who previously learned CPR performed CPR on him for 2 hours until they could rendezvous with USCG and EMS. Although Ed's event wasn't reversible, their prompt and appropriate care gave Ed the absolute best chance of survival. His friends should be commended for their quick action!

About the Event

Do you know CPR?

This event is being held to honor Ed and his crew. The event Ed suffered, sudden cardiac arrest occurs approximately 350,000 times each year outside of hospitals. Survival of this event is only possible with early recognition of the incident, early bystander CPR and early use of an automated defibrillator (AED).

Attendees of this event will receive free instruction in adult CPR with overview of AED use. For those needing certification cards, a small fee will be required to cover processing.

In addition to CPR training, this event is raising funds for charity. Even in death, Ed continues to touch the lives of others as he has ours. All proceeds will be donated to the Gift of Life Donor Program in Ed's honor.  To raise funds for this amazing charity there will be tickets available for raffle baskets which have been donated by local businesses.
